What uploading does — and does not — do
Uploading a document is not the notarization. iNotarize is the intake and case management side of the process: it is how your request reaches us, how we review it, and how you stay informed. The notarial act itself takes place in a live session conducted through a compliant Remote Online Notarization workflow.
Submitting a document does not guarantee that the document or transaction is eligible for Remote Online Notarization. iNotarize will review your request and provide the appropriate next steps.
What to have ready
- Your complete document, unsigned, ideally as a PDF
- An unexpired, government-issued photo ID
- A device with a working camera, microphone, and stable internet connection
- The name of the organization that will receive the document

About identity verification
Remote Online Notarization requires the notary to confirm who you are before performing the notarial act. In practice that generally means analysis of your government-issued ID and identity-proofing questions drawn from public records. You will be told exactly what is needed before your session.
Acceptance by the receiving organization
We do not guarantee that any court, recorder, lender, title company, government agency, embassy, consulate, or foreign authority will accept a specific electronically notarized document. When acceptance matters, confirm requirements with the receiving organization before your appointment.
