Remote Online Notary Services

General Notary Work, Available Online

Not every document fits a category. Employment forms, insurance paperwork, vehicle documents, letters of authorization, and one-off requests all need the same thing: a notary who verifies identity and witnesses your signature. That work can often be handled online.

Can this be notarized online?

General notarial acts — acknowledgments, jurats, and signature witnessing — are frequently handled through Remote Online Notarization. Documents requiring paper originals or special certifications may not be.

What to prepare

  • The unsigned document, preferably as a PDF
  • The name of the person or organization requesting notarization
  • An unexpired government photo ID
  • Your deadline

What identification is needed

An unexpired government-issued photo ID is required. If the name on your ID differs from the name on the document, note that during intake.

What happens during the process

  1. Upload your document and answer a few questions.
  2. We review eligibility and follow up if we need more detail.
  3. You verify your identity.
  4. You meet the notary online and sign.
  5. You receive the completed electronic document securely.

What to know before you submit

  • Certified copies of vital records (birth, marriage, death certificates) come from the issuing agency, not a notary.
  • Notaries cannot select your document or explain its legal effect.
  • If you are unsure whether your document qualifies, submit it — review is the point.

How to submit your document

Start your request on the online notarization intake. You'll tell us where you are physically located, describe the document and signers, and upload your file to private storage. Submitting a document does not guarantee that the document or transaction is eligible for Remote Online Notarization. iNotarize will review your request and provide the appropriate next steps.
